Category A - Documents
This category is tax-free and no prior control document is required to imports.
You can send: Letters, newspapers, photographs, titles, magazines, books, cards, checkbooks, secograms, information contained in audio, video, magnetic, electromagnetic, electronic media, which are not subject to licenses, and may be of a judicial, commercial, banking, etc. nature, which are not for commercial purposes and which are not prohibited from importation.
Category B - 4x4
The package must have a peso igual o menor a 4 kilos (8.5 libras) y un valor FOB igual o menor a los $400 USD. (FOB value limit of $1,600 USD per fiscal year). This category is for individuals, so you cannot send more than 3 units of the same kind or cell phones.
Tariff rate of USD 20 each for express courier services. Duty-free for postal services.
Categoría C - 100kl $5000 USD
All packages weighing up to 100 kilograms and up to $5,000 USD that do not fall into any other category. Products traveling under this category will enter Ecuador with the respective payment of taxes: Tariff: % depending on the product, VAT of 15%, and FODINFA of 0.5%. You cannot send textiles and footwear.
Cellular phones: Only individuals with an Ecuadorian national identity card may import up to one (1) new unit (cell phone) per fiscal year.
Note: The prior control document must be submitted only for products that require it (products for ingestion or topical use).
Categoría D - Prendas de vestir, textiles confeccionados y Calzado
All packages containing clothing, other manufactured textile items, and footwear not covered by Category B must be declared in this category. You cannot ship used clothing or footwear. The weight must be less than 20 kilos and the value must be less than $2,000 USD.
Impuestos:
Textiles: 10% ADV + USD $5,5 x kg. Calzado: 10% ADV + USD $6 x par. IVA: 15 % FODINFA: 0,5%.
Note: In your first importation of clothing and footwear up to $500 in the fiscal year, you will not need prior control documents, as long as they are imported only by natural persons and without commercial purpose. From the second importation in this category within the fiscal year, you do require prior control documents, such as INEN MIPRO licenses, R13 labeling.
Categoría E. Medicinas
These are the packages non-commercial purposes containing medicine free from the payment of taxes, justifying its necessity with medical prescription, certificate or diagnosis.
Note: This category does not contemplate weight and value limitations, and no prior control documents will be required.
They are The following products are exempted from the payment of foreign trade taxes: Medical devices, special tools and prostheses used by persons with disabilities for their use or legal persons in charge of their protection.
Categoría F. Libros y equipos de computación
You can bring packages with books or similar. Remember that the reading books are free of charge Coloring books, albums, picture books, accounting books, notebooks, and forms are subject to customs duties. All items are subject to a 0.5% FODINFA tax. Computer equipment and parts are subject to 15% VAT and 0.5% FODINFA.
Note: Commercial printed matter, commercial catalogs and similar are forbidden to be imported according to the Communication Law.
Category G. Family number of Ecuadorian migrant
Exclusively for Ecuadorian migrant citizens who have registered their immigration status, allows them to send packages to family members in Ecuador tax-free Customs. You can send personal and household items such as clothing, shoes, books, medicines, and toys, among other things.
Weight and Value: Packages must weigh four kilograms or less, and their value (FOB) must not exceed the value of a basic unified salary in Ecuador. There is no limit on shipments.
Permitted Relationship: Shipments are intended for your relatives up to the fourth degree of consanguinity (parents, children, siblings, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins) and second degree of affinity (spouse, parents-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law).

Certificate of importation for shipment of household goods
You must download, fill out, and sign this certificate, and bring it with you when you come to send your shipment. We will attach it to your package's Simplified Customs Declaration (DAS), ensuring that it meets the requirements for tax exemption at Ecuadorian customs.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE SHIPMENT DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS?
If the shipment does not comply with the requirements according to the Courier category, Customs may take actions such as a change of mode, customs retention, fines or refund.
Customs Withholding:
Customs authorities may withhold the shipment until the irregularities are resolved and the corresponding regulations are complied with or, depending on the case, the products may not be nationalized and will be donated to the State Secretariat in charge of social policy.
Modality change:
In the event that the goods exceed the weight and value limitations established for the Courier and postal regime, they must pay all taxes and comply with all customs formalities corresponding to a common import.
Fines:
Depending on the seriousness of the violation and the specific regulations, fines may be imposed on the importer for not complying with the established requirements.
Rejection or Return:
In more severe cases, if the shipment does not meet the fundamental requirements, the customs authorities may decide to refuse the shipment entry into the country or require it to be returned to the place of origin.
